DOST PSTO and CVISNET Showcase BeST to LGU Pinamungajan
CVISNET Foundation Inc., led by Executive Director Mr. Jeffrey N. Llanto, and DOST Cebu Provincial Science
and Technology Office, led by Provincial S&T Director, Mr. Bryan B. Ybañez, made a courtesy call to
Pinamungajan, Cebu Mayor, Hon. Glenn Baricuatro on January 9, 2026.
The team presented the Barangay e-System and Tools (BeST) and the Internet for Sustainable Livelihood,
e-Education, and Tourism (ISLET Connect) to the Local Government Unit of Pinamungajan, which included
Vice Mayor Jessica Baricuatro and representatives from other LGU offices. The event highlighted the BeST
platform and its relevance to Pinamungajan’s SMART Roadmap, particularly in advancing SMART
Governance initiatives across Central Visayas.
The team also presented the same programs to the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Lamac MPC), a
large, award-winning cooperative originating in Pinamungajan, Cebu, that started with small farmers in
1973 and has grown to serve thousands across the Visayas and Mindanao with diverse economic and
social programs, including savings, loans, agri-business, and livelihood training, focusing on empowering
farmers, women, and youth.
Through DOST 7’s Smart and Sustainable Cities & Communities program, CVISNET and DOST 7 reaffirmed
their commitment to helping the LGUs become smart, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive communities.
