
BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE: SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN ACTION
The National Social Entrepreneurship Conference (NSEC) 2025, themed “Scaling Change: Advances of
Social Enterprises in Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development,” took place from April 29 to 30,
2025, at UP Diliman in Quezon City.
One of the plenary sessions focused on models for scaling up social enterprises to promote inclusion and
reduce poverty. Mr. Jeffrey Llanto, CVISNET Executive Director, showcased the ISLET Connect Project,
currently implemented in several Cebu and Bohol locations. He also highlighted CVISNET's other
initiatives, including the Barangay e-System and Tools (BeST) and Bridging Youth Through Technology
Empowerment (BYTE).
Mr. Llanto emphasized the importance of leveraging the capabilities of various partners and
stakeholders, highlighting how community involvement can transform into business opportunities. He
also stressed the need to build sustainable communities.
NSEC 2025 was co-organized by the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA), the Ateneo
Center for Social Entrepreneurship (ACSEnt), the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI), and the
Poverty Reduction Through Social Entrepreneurship Coalition.
