X-FACE Disaster Simulation in Bohol and Cebu City

The Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) Japan, in collaboration with the CVISNET Foundation Inc., the Department of Science and Technology Region 7 (DOST7), and the DOST Bohol Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO), conducted simultaneous "X-FACE Disaster Retrieval Simulations" in Inabanga, Bohol, and Cebu City. This two-day event took place from January 30 to 31, 2025, and included participants from various public and private sectors

The first day of the event was held at the Lawis Barangay Hall in Inabanga, Bohol. It featured presentations from Mr. Jeffrey Llanto, Executive Director of CVISNET, and Dr. Toshikazu Sakano, Director of ATR Japan, who introduced the X-FACE Project and its functionalities. Mr. Kenneth SantiaƱez, IT Head of CVISNET, demonstrated the X-FACE system, providing hands-on experience for participants. He also presented an overview of the X-FACE Simulation. The event was attended by Hon. Jose Jono Jumamoy, Municipal Mayor of Inabanga, and Mr. Meljun Signe from DOST Bohol.

On the second day, disaster simulation activities were conducted. Participants from Brgy. The Cebu team acted as the Regional Central Command, coordinating important communications and updates for the Inabanga responders using the X-FACE system. The two-day event concluded with an assessment from the participants.

The X-FACE Disaster Retrieval Simulations in Cebu City and Bohol were held between October 2024 and January 2025. The purpose of this phase was to test the existing features of X-FACE during disaster simulations with actual responders from various public offices, including local community residents. The goal is to engage stakeholders in the research and development (R&D) implementation for Philippine use cases.
