Barangay e-System and ISLET Connect in Siquijor
The CVISNET Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the DOST Siquijor Provincial Science
and Technology Office (PSTO), recently visited three municipalities in the Province of
Siquijor to present the Barangay e-System and Tools (BeST) and ISLET Connect Project.
From January 8 to 9, 2025, the CVISNET team, led by Executive Director Mr. Jeffrey N.
Llanto, along with Engr. Mario E. de la Peña, Director of the DOST Siquijor PTSO, and
Engr. Reinhold Jek Abing, visited the Municipality of Siquijor, where they were welcomed
by Mayor Richard C. Quezon and his team. Next, they met the Municipality of Larena
Mayor, Hon. Cyrus Vincent M. Calibo, and his personnel. Lastly, the team had a meeting
with the Municipality of Maria Mayor, Hon. Roselyn T. Asok.
Mr. Llanto presented the program entitled “Empowering Communities in the Municipalities
of Siquijor through Science and Technology for the Establishment of Barangay-level
Interactive Information System on Skills, Health, Trade, and Disaster Response”. This
initiative is part of the DOST’s Computer Empowerment through Science and Technology
(CEST) Project, which aims to transform local governance by implementing digital
platforms in the barangays.
BeST is a project initiated by CVISNET that provides communities with a comprehensive
and user-friendly solution for planning, monitoring, and generating documents at the
barangay level. It includes a computerized record-keeping system that manages residents'
information, judicial records, and permit generation within the barangay. Additionally,
it allows for the integration of barangay data accessible at the municipal
level.
Part of CVISNET’s advocacy is to contribute to the initiatives that bridge the digital
divide and empower communities through Science and Technology.
