witnessed by Engr. Jesus Zamora Jr., the Regional Director of the Department of Science
and Technology Region 7 (DOST7), at the DOST7 S&T Complex in Sudlon Lahug, Cebu
City.
Starlink, developed by SpaceX, has garnered worldwide attention for its mission to
provide global internet coverage through a constellation of satellites. With its arrival
in Cebu City, Starlink opens up a world of opportunities and possibilities for public
service and connectivity.
During the unboxing and testing process, the Regional Director of DOST7, Engr. Jesus
Zamora Jr., was present to witness the historic moment. Expressing his enthusiasm, he
stated, "The arrival of the Starlink kit in Cebu City signifies a giant leap towards
bridging the digital divide and unlocking new opportunities for our region."
The Starlink kit showcased its impressive capabilities by registering an astounding
download speed of 109+mbps during the initial testing phase. This remarkable speed
promises a significant improvement in internet connectivity for the region, enabling
faster data transmission and seamless browsing experiences.
Furthermore, the Starlink kit successfully communicated with the Locally Accessible
Cloud System (LACS), further enhancing its potential for public service. The integration
with LACS opens up avenues for data storage, real-time information sharing, and
collaborative efforts, ultimately benefiting various sectors such as education,
healthcare, and disaster management.
The achievement of high-speed internet and successful communication with the LACS system
