CVISNET and RAFI Partner to Introduce Community System to Empower Boljoon Barangays for Disaster Preparedness

Boljoon, Cebu - On March 5, 2026, barangay officials from the Municipality of Boljoon were gathered for an exploratory meeting at the Boljoon Municipal Hall.

A proactive move to safeguard from increasing threats of natural disasters, the session introduced local leaders to the potential implementation of a community system available to aid disaster preparedness especially to remote communities of the municipality. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the CVISNET Foundation, Inc. and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI).

The Disaster Information System for Communities (DISC) of CVISNET Foundation Inc. was presented. Powered by the Barangay e-System & Tools (BeST), the system is designed to significantly enhance disaster preparedness, streamline response coordination, and optimize recovery efforts. It is aimed at empowering local government and building resilience and managing disaster events with effectiveness.

If pushed, a Project will be implemented under RAFI’s BRAVE (Building Resilience and Adaptation in Vulnerable Ecosystems) and BEST2SMART (Barangay-Level Emergency System for Training to Support Monitoring, Alerting, and Response Techniques) programs.
