APNIC's Monitoring and Evaluation Lead Visits Gilutongan Island
On October 11, 2024, the CVISNET team welcomed Mr. David Vivian, Monitoring and Evaluation Lead at APNIC Foundation, who arrived in Cebu to visit the Gilutongan Island in Cordova. The purpose was to evaluate the internet connectivity at Gilutongan Integrated School and its surrounding community, where the ISLET Connect Project was initiated.
The Internet for Sustainable Livelihood, e-Education & Tourism (ISLET Connect) is a project of APNIC Foundation and CVISNET Foundation, Inc. which aims to address the digital disparity in remote island communities like Gilutongan, Caohagan, and Pangan-an Islands in Cebu by providing stable broadband internet solutions. The project sought to empower residents and promote socio-economic development, including establishing a solar-powered Locally Accessible Communication System (LACS) facility for instant communication and emergency response.
Mr. Vivian also had a chance to visit the CVISNET office located at IT Park, wherein a short meeting with the CVISNET officials was held
