ISLET CONNECT Project Launching in Bohol

The launching of the ISLET CONNECT Project in the province of Bohol was a success! CVISNET, in partnership with Inabanga LGU and DOST Bohol, successfully launched the ISLET CONNECT Project in the barangays of Lawis and Cagawasan in Inabanga, Bohol. From August 12 to 15, 2024, the project involved not only the deployment and installation of infrastructure but also social preparation and engagement with the residents and key officials of the Municipality of Inabanga. Hon. Vice Mayor Josephine Socorro “Roygie” C. Jumamoy graced the social prep in Barangay Lawis while Hon. Mayor Jose “Jono” C. Jumamoy in Barangay Cagawasan. During the Project Launching proper held on the last day, Mayor Jono, CVISNET Executive Director Mr. Jeffrey Llanto and his team, and key persons from Brgy. Lawis, Brgy. Cagawasan, and Inabanga LGU were present. Joining the program via livestream were Ms. Mea Thompson, Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Unconnected.Org, Mr. Benjz Gerard Sevilla, Country Manager of Unconnected.Org, and Dir. Jesus Zamora Jr. of DOST 7.

A week prior, the CVISNET team, led by its Executive Director Mr. Jeffrey Llanto, visited Inabanga, Bohol for site surveys and conducted separate meetings with Inabanga Mayor, Hon. Jose “Jono” Jumamoy, DOST Bohol, and officials from Barangay Lawis and Barangay Cagawasan.

The ISLET Connect Project, powered by Unconnected, aims to install and establish connectivity in the five barangays of Lawis, Cagawasan, Cambitoon, Baogo, and Cuaming in Inabanga, Bohol.

The next phase of the project will cover the three remaining barangays of Baogo, Cambitoon, and Cuaming. With the deployment and installation of high-speed internet access, this initiative is a vital step in empowering underserved communities to the digital world!
